What’s the worst part of going to the dentist? Is it the worry that causes you to experience dental anxiety? If so, there is a solution with sedation dentistry.
At Clear Lake Dental Care, our dentists in Webster, TX (a short drive from Houston), our dentists provide pain-free, worry-free dental care with sedation.
Dental sedation actually has a long history that goes back about 170 years. Our understanding of medication has allowed us to develop more modern approaches to sedation dentistry.
Find out for yourself how dental sedation can make it easier for you to receive the oral care that you need and deserve.
The Health Benefits Of Sedation Dentistry
You may make it a point to follow the American Dental Association guidelines for your daily oral hygiene. You brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time. You floss every day to remove bacteria, plaque, and food particles from between your teeth.
The dental professionals at Clear Lake Dental Care will continue to urge you to do this, plus they can provide you with a professional cleaning a few times each year to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
For someone with dental anxiety, we know that is easier said than done. It’s also why we offer multiple forms of dental sedation in our practice.
Dental anxiety can arise for a number of reasons. You may feel self-conscious about the condition of your teeth. You may worry about pain. You may not like the sounds of dental equipment, and you may be worried about a needle or a drill being used during your procedure.
Sedation dentistry can alleviate your anxiety by addressing your worries. You won’t have to worry about feeling any pain. You likely won’t be particularly aware of the specific things that are happening during your procedure. That means you won’t hear or feel equipment as it is being used.
But in the end, your teeth and your whole mouth will be healthy for having come to Clear Lake Dental Care.
Whatever your concern, you can rest assured that our dentists likely have seen or heard it before. We know how to help, and we will gladly use that knowledge to give you the best dental experience we can.
You can make an appointment today whether you live in Houston or closer to our dentist office in Webster, TX.
Four Kinds Of Sedation Dentistry
If we have learned anything at Clear Lake Dental Care it is that no two patients are the same.
That’s why we offer four kinds of dental sedation. We are prepared to help whether you need mild sedation to get through a routine cleaning or the strongest possible sedation to get through the most complicated procedures.
Here are your dental sedation options at our office:
► 1. Nitrous oxide
The oldest form of sedation dentistry is as effective as it’s ever been. However, our understanding of how to use nitrous oxide (laughing gas) makes it better than it’s ever been, too.
By inhaling the gas, you can get through nearly any procedure without feeling a thing. When we are finished, all you have to do is breathe normally to exhale what is left in your system. You’ll be feeling like yourself within minutes.
► 2. Oral sedation
We also can use anti-anxiety medication so you can relax for your basic dental care. You simply take a pill about an hour before your treatment.
You’ll be so relaxed when your appointment time arrives that you will be able to get the care that you need without pain or worries. You will need someone to drive you home, however,
We want to make a quick aside to point out that many dentists only offer the two dental sedation option mentioned above. These last two forms of sedation dentistry help us stand out in the region.
And since these are our strongest form of dental sedation, we must insist that you make arrangements for a family member or friend to take you home when your treatment is over.
► 3. IV sedation
This can be an excellent choice for patients with severe dental anxiety. IV sedation can only be administered by a licensed professional. This form of sedation can be adjusted easily as needed for each individual patient.
► 4. General anesthesia
This is the strongest form of sedation you can receive at Clear Lake Dental Care. This is an effective way to keep you safely sedated for long, complicated dental procedures.
