How to Take Care of Invisalign Trays
- Posted on: May 15 2018
The last thing you want to wear as an adult— besides an adult diaper of course— is a mouth full of metal braces. And it wasn’t until recently that there was another option. Here at Clear Lake Dental, we specialize in a variety of different types of dentistry including Invisalign.
As an alternative to traditional metal braces, Invisalign gives patients the opportunity to cosmetically straighten their teeth without the hassle of traditional metal braces. And because you get to take out your Invisalign every time you eat or to brush your teeth, Invisalign is especially popular. But because Invisalign is newer to the market than other orthodontic treatments, many patients aren’t sure how to take care of their aligners. Here are three helpful tips.
Rinse Your Aligners
One of the many unique benefits of Invisalign is that you can take your trays out every time you eat— making it, so you don’t have to skimp on your favorite snacks like popcorn. Make sure to rinse your trays every time you take them out to help get rid of bad breath causing germs and bacteria.
Many of our patients wonder how they’re supposed to keep their Invisalign trays clean. Although you can gently brush them with a toothbrush, we also recommend that you soak them in an Invisalign cleaning solution or some other denture solutions to help get rid of harmful germs and bacteria. Make sure that you do this at least once every day.
Brush and Floss Your Teeth
Another way that you can take care of your Invisalign trays? Make sure that they are going onto teeth that have been both brushed and flossed. The cleaner your teeth are, the cleaner your Invisalign trays are going to be and the better they are going to work. As a suggestion, try to brush and floss your teeth after every meal. If you don’t have access to a toothbrush during your lunch break or a business meeting, just rinse your mouth with water to try to get everything off of your teeth before you put your trays back in.
