How to Take Care of Your Invisalign Trays
- Posted on: Mar 15 2017
Having crooked teeth can make you feel self-conscious enough not to want to smile for pictures or when greeting people. And although metal braces can fix a crooked smile, they can make you feel even more self-conscious as an adult than having crooked teeth. Luckily, here at Clear Lake Dental Care, we offer our patients Invisalign. By using clear, customized and removable trays, patients can get straighter teeth without the fuss of traditional metal braces. To make sure that you are getting the best results, however, it’s important that you know how to take care of your Invisalign trays. From knowing where to store them to how to clean them, this article will give you a few helpful tips. Read on to learn more.
Don’t Lose Your Invisalign Retainer
One of the many benefits of Invisalign is that you can take the trays out before you eat. However, when you take them out, it can make it easy for you to lose them or accidentally throw them away. To prevent you from losing them, we encourage all of our patients at Clear Lake Dental Care to store their trays in one of our plastic storage containers. Get into the habit of putting your Invisalign trays immediately in the container before you eat so that you don’t throw them out on accident.
How To Clean Your Invisalign Tray
Even though you aren’t going to eat with your Invisalign trays in, it’s important that you clean them at least twice a day so that harmful bacteria doesn’t build-up on them. The longer your Invisalign trays stay in your mouth for, the more bacteria is likely to build-up on them— leaving you susceptible to developing cavities or infections. To clean them, you have a few different options including:
- Rinsing Them With Warm Water Before Every Use
- Soaking them In the Recommended Oral Solution We Give You
- Gently Brushing them With a Toothbrush and Toothpaste
