How to Take Care of Your Invisalign Trays
- Posted on: Apr 15 2018
Being an adult and having to sport a mouth full of metal braces isn’t exactly something you want to add to your resume. However, if you have crooked teeth, then we have an option that may be a bit more appealing: Invisalign. Invisalign is an orthodontic procedure that involves using a few sets of clear, removable dental trays to help straighten your smile. Since they are removable, you can take them out to eat, brush your teeth, and floss. This will also alleviate the worry of food getting stuck in your brackets.
When you take your Invisalign trays out to brush and floss your teeth, don’t forget to use a gentle toothbrush and some toothpaste to brush your trays as well. Germs and bacteria can build up on your trays throughout the day. Brushing them is a fast and easy way to keep them as clean as possible.
Soak Your Aligners
You should be sleeping with your aligners in and wearing them for at least 20-22 hours a day. However, try to soak your aligners in a denture cleaning solution to help keep them as clean as possible. Ideally, you should soak them right before you go to bed or first thing in the morning.
You don’t need to brush your aligners every time you take them out to eat. Although, you should be rinsing them with some clean water before you put them back in. Just a little bit of water can help keep them clean in between brushings.
