Straighten Up: How to Tell If Invisalign is Right for You
- Posted on: Jun 15 2018
When it comes to having straighter teeth, the last thing you want to do is “deal with” having metal braces for the next several months or even an entire year. And although traditional metal braces used to be the orthodontic standard, that simply isn’t the case anymore. Here at Clear Lake Dental Care, we offer patients Invisalign as a way to straighten their teeth without the hassle of metal braces.
There are many unique things that make Invisalign the go-to option for our patients including the ability to take them out when eating, brushing, flossing, or even smiling for a picture. And although Invisalign sounds like the ideal option for everyone, how can you tell if it’s right for you?
Your Teeth and Jaw Aren’t Severely Misaligned
One thing to note about Invisalign is that although it’s an effective option for many teenagers and adults, it’s not good for everyone— especially patients with severe jaw misalignment issues. If, however, you have slightly crooked teeth or a slightly misaligned jaw, Invisalign may still be a good option.
You Are Dedicated
One benefit of metal braces is that they don’t really require any sort of upkeep work on your part; all you have to do is have them tightened every so often by your orthodontist and make sure you brush your teeth. When it comes to your Invisalign trays, however, because there’s more flexibility for you to take them out, that also comes with a bit more responsibility. For instance, you need to not only clean your teeth a few times a day but you need to clean your aligners. Additionally, you need to make sure that you are wearing them for 22 hours a day.
You Are An Adult or Teenager
There’s no doubt that you’ve seen more than your fair share of preteens or even children wearing braces. And although metal braces can be suitable for kids of a young age, we usually only recommend Invisalign for older teenagers and adults whose teeth have stopped growing.
Schedule A Consultation
The only real way for us to determine if you’re a suitable candidate for Invisalign is by coming into our office for a consultation.
If you are an adult, the last thing you likely want to wear is a mouth full of metal braces. With Invisalign, you can get the straighter teeth without having to be called a metal mouth. To learn more about Invisalign, schedule a consultation at our Webster office and call 281-557-8097.
