I’ve yet to meet anyone at my Webster dental office who didn’t want straight, beautiful teeth. The problems was that, for decades, achieving this was easier said than done. That’s not the case any longer. Treatments like orthodontics or placing dental crowns can now be completed with more ease than ever before.
Today I want to highlight a few of those treatments. You’ll see just how dentistry has changed over the years, and more importantly, how easy it is to correct your smile. There are less barriers than ever to achieving a healthy, beautiful smile.
Get Permanent Crowns in One Day
We dentists place millions of crowns every year. A typical crown placement takes between two and three dental visits. First, the dentist will prepare the tooth and take an impression. The patient will wear a temporary restoration while the permanent crown is being fabrication. Sometimes patients wear the temporary crown for weeks — or even a few months.
That doesn’t have to be the case any longer. Our office uses CEREC same-day crown technology to provide you with crowns in one single visit. Using CEREC, we can:
- Prepare the tooth
- Take a digital impression
- Design the permanent crown
- Fabricate the crown
- Place the crown
The entire procedure takes about 90 minutes to complete. The digital technology allows us to find the most precise fit for the crown. A better fit means a longer lasting crown.
Don’t Spend Years Wearing Braces
If you had braces as a child, you might remember how uncomfortable the treatment was and how long it took. Many children wear braces for two years or longer. Braces still remain as a great resource for patients with severe orthodontic issues. But the thing is that not all patients have major orthodontic issues. Those patients can benefit from different treatments called accelerated orthodontics.
Invisalign — You might have heard about Invisalign before. It uses clear aligners to straighten crooked teeth, close gaps, and even fix mild bite issues. Instead of using metal brackets and wires, there is nothing fixed on the teeth. The Invisalign aligners are plastic, removable and virtually invisible. Typical treatment lasts about 12 to 18 months. You’ll receive new aligners in the mail once every few weeks.
Patients who receive our Invisalign treatment are free to remove the aligners while they clean their teeth or eat. It’s recommended that patients undergoing Invisalign treatment wear their aligners for 20 hours a day. Not wearing the aligners will result in treatment delays.
Six Month Smiles — Though Six Month Smiles use braces to straighten teeth, this is not a comprehensive treatment. As the name suggests, it takes only six months to complete. Instead of focusing on the entire mouth, this treatment focuses only on the teeth that need to straighten. These are the teeth typically in the front of the mouth — we call these the Social 6. It’s interesting to see how the face and smile can transform when you correct the front teeth. When the front teeth are straight and beautiful, you’ll feel more confident with your smile.
These are just three treatments that can give you a better smile. If you are struggling with crooked teeth or poor teeth, don’t hesitate to schedule a visit with us today. Call 281-500-9877.
